AIMS OF THE VEGETARIAN SOCIETY
OF IRELAND
Our
constitutional aims are to advance education, and to promote the
positive aspects of vegetarianism in relation to both health and
environmental issues. We also aim to create more awareness of the
organisation, and to inform the people of Ireland about vegetarianism.
We aim to co-operate with other organisations which promote the
fundamental ideals of vegetarianism. The VSI supports both vegetarian
and vegan aims.
DEFINITIONS
The Vegetarian Society of Ireland defines a
vegetarian as one who does
not consume meat, fish or fowl and who aims to avoid the use and
consumption of battery hen eggs and slaughterhouse by-products in food,
clothing, cosmetic and household products. Read

- Celebrate World Vegetarian Day,
Saturday October 6th |
World Vegetarian Day 2007 was a great success! The weather
was great, the food was delicious, and the turnout was
brilliant. The event was attended by between 1,500 and 2,000 people. We'll be posting a detailed writeup with some
pictures from the event here soon.
Were you at the event? If so, we'd love to hear what you
thought of it. What did you like? What do you think we could do to make it better?
Would you like us to organise more events for vegetarians? What kind? Please email us your comments at feedback@vegetarian.ie
If you missed World Vegetarian Day at Cultivate but would like to
be informed in advance of other vegetarian events we're organising then
please send an email to events@vegetarian.ie and type "subscribe" (without the quotes) in the message body.

VSI: Vegetarian Scene Investigation?!
Cue some music - "Who Are You" by The
Who - and our VSI team, dressed in matching VSI t-shirts,
could easily
have imagined ourselves in a dramatic investigation of a major crime
scene. Our crime scene was far bigger than anything that team
of
actors on the hit TV series CSI ever tackled! The crime scene
in this
case was an entire planet - quite an undertaking for a small team such
as ours!
The victim? Planet Earth and all it's life.
More soon! |
